Pro-Palestine advocates are often heard making the clear distinction between Zionism and Judaism.
“I am an anti-Zionist not anti-Judaism”.
Many pro-Palestine advocates are extremely careful not to talk about Judaism or Jews, but just Zionists.
And I agree. But I’d expand on this and say I’m not anti-Judaism and nor am I anti-Zionist.
I am however, anti-extremist-Judaism and anti-extremist-Zionism.
I know of Zionists and Jews who are peace-loving and would be happy with an equally sovereign Palestine, alongside Israel.
Or a single state with equal rights for all.
Extremist Zionists and Jews on the other hand, want all of historic Palestine to become Israel.
Judaism is not Zionism and vice-versa.
Zionism is a political ideology that is underpinned by radicalised interpretations of elements of Judaism.
We need to make a distinction between peaceful Zionists and Jews. And radicalised extremist Zionists and Jews.
