A seemingly avid fan of Sunderland FC, and resides in the North East, as outlined on his X (formerly Twitter) profile.
In 2021, Anneliese Dodds (Labour MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Women and Equalities in the UK), made a tweet highlighting the religious hate crimes Muslims faced in the UK.
Mr “X” jumped in:
This tweet was made by Ms Dodd’s on Islamophobia awareness month.
Just imagine a Muslim jumping on to a tweet about the hate Jews faced, and said “oh but we face more, talk about us like this” – it’d be abhorrent.
It’d rightly be called out as the Muslim trying to hijack the awareness, and minimise the hate Jews faced.
This is no different.
It could have been argued that Mr “X” is making a reasonable point, had what he is suggesting been true – but it simply is not true.
And this is not a complaint: Jewish people are one of the most protected minority groups in the UK.
They have been assigned their own definition of religious hate crime, as guidance to UK police, which is based on the IHRA definition of antisemitism, no other group has that, as Ms Dodd’s alludes to in her tweet. They have their own government taxpayer-funded, supplementary police services in the CST and Shomrim. And hate crimes against Jewish people is often talked about within various levels of British society.
Coming back to Mr “X”. His defence was that he was making an “analysis”, that statistically, Jews are more likely to face a hate crime, per capita.
Well, that’s not necessarily true either, it is flawed “analysis” – the figures are based on incidents reported to the police, not convicted cases!
