In an unprecedented step, six hundred legal experts have written to the government to ask it to stop aiding Israel in its war in Gaza.
They argue, based on their legal knowledge of international law, that Israel is breaking international law, and has been doing so for many months.
The letter said, the Government is also breaching international law by continuing to arm Israel.
The 17 page letter made a compelling legal case.
Alongside Lord Sumption, his fellow former Supreme Court justice Lord Wilson signed the letter.
As did former Lord Justices of Appeal Sir Stephen Sedley, Sir Alan Moses, Sir Anthony Hooper and Sir Richard Aikens, and former Bar of England and Wales Chair, Matthias Kelly, KC.
HOWEVER, there is one self-proclaimed international law expert that did disagree with these preeminent legal experts, in an interview on Sky News – enter the ‘swashbuckling wonder woman’ of Israel advocacy, the insufferable legal director of the UK lawyers for israel (UKLFI) – Ms Natasha Hausdorff.
Under the legal directorship of Ms Hausdorff, in February 2023, UKLFI had made a complaint to London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, harassing them to take down paintings from Palestine that they had on their walls – UKLFI said they were āacting on behalf of many Jewish patients who felt vulnerable, harassed and victimised” by the paintings – yes, that is what UKLFI claimed, not only does this sound ludicrous – but it transpired to be a ludicrous lie by UKLFI, because based on a freedom of information request (FOI), it was discovered that no patients had ever complained! The UKLFI had totally made it up. That is outright racism; they could not bear to see paintings from Palestine purely because it was from Palestine, and they made up lies to have it taken down.
Coming back to Ms. Hausdorff, and her chutzpah to argue contrary to the signatories of the letter to the government – she does have an ally though that sides with her argument – and that is the nondescript Matthew Miller, a spokesperson for the Biden administration, who she cites in her interview with Sky. This Miller chap pales into insignificance compared with the signatories to the letter – alas, as does Ms Hausdorff.
