Ambassador Nides, recently made a comment saying he does not believe Palestinians needed rights. He said they needed money.
With one broad statement he essentially indirectly is indicating that he does not believe in Palestinian right to self-determination, or Palestinian equal rights to those that are enjoyed by the Israelis.
It is worth reminding ourselves of the facts – the Palestinians live under military occupation in large swathes of the West Bank. Whereas the Israeli illegal settlers – many of whom carry out terrorist acts against Palestinian civilians, live under Israeli sovereign law.
What Mr. Nides seems to be suggesting is that in order to maintain an Israeli state as a Jewish state, it won’t be possible for the Palestinians to be granted the same rights as Israelis, or rights normally enjoyed by the citizens of any normal democratic nation. Which begs the question, if an Israeli Jewish sate can only be maintained through subjugation, denial of Palestinian rights via apartheid-like systems, then for how much longer can this be sustained.
Israel has long started to lose this argument – this can be seen up and down the country in the UK and the USA.
