Israel has yet to declare its borders to the UN even after 75 years. Confirming borders is a key requirement of statehood and admission to the UN. To this day, Israel continues to steal Palestinian land by building illegal settlements like the ones circled here in red. (Photo credit: AJ)
It is outlined in Article 4 of the UN Charter, membership in the United Nations is open to all other peace-loving States which accept the obligations contained in the present Charter and, in the judgment of the Organization, are able and willing to carry out these obligations.
There are five requisite conditions, to be admitted to membership in the United Nations, an applicant must;
1) Be a State
2) Be peace-loving
3) Accept the obligations of the Charter
4) Be able to carry out these obligations
5) Be willing to do so.
One of the requisites of being a state is it must have agreed and defined borders – because Israel was invented inside Palestine it does not have agreed and defined borders; The Palestinians living in Palestine never agreed to the UN Partition plan of 1947, nor did the wider Middle East. Why would they, why would anyone agree to have their country split into two so people from Europe can move in.
The Zionist project that is behind Israel is not peace-loving by any stretch of the imagination – many of the Zionist official documents and Zionist conferences pre-1947 stated their ambitions of controlling all of the land between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. It was always a colonialist project that depended on ethnic-cleansing, terrorism and murder of Palestinians living in Palestine.
Since the Zionist state of Israel was founded on colonialism and racism – it is not peace-loving and so therefore point four is moot, as is point five.
Which begs the question, why is Israel still a member of the UN?!
Furthermore…
Since Israel was invented by the UN vote in 1947, it has accumulated 180 UN resolutions against it for numerous breaches concerning human rights, border disputes, war crimes, etc. That is more than any other country in the world by a long margin.
And that is because:
- Israel is the only colonial state in the world that has colonised another country since the post-war era, when colonialism and taking land by military force was illegalised.
- Israel is the longest running occupation in the post-war era.
- Israel is an apartheid state.
- Israel has been systematically terrorising Palestinian populations since 1947.
- It is the only entity that has carried out a genocide against the people it occupies in the-post war era.
Israel is uniquely bad, and therefore deserves unique attention and criticism.
Given all these facts, it is inexplicable that there has not yet been a vote at the UN to retract its membership.
