Let us remind ourselves that Rabbi Dee and his remaining children continue to live on illegally occupied Palestinian territory.
Illegally occupied based on international law, and as designated by the legally binding UN Security Council resolution 2334.
And the only way they can live there is through the force of the brutal Israel occupation forces, who subjugate the Palestinians under martial law, and provide the sanctity of civil law for the Illegal, yes illegal, Israeli settlers. Moving onโฆ
Rabbi Dee continues the politicisation of the tragic event concerning his family, and this time could be mired in controversy.
Last night at a digitally organised event, anchored by controversial British-American Rabbi Boteach, he announced heโs contemplating suing CNN for 1.3 billion dollars!
Why?
Because its world famous, super-talented and much respected veteran news anchor, Christine Amanpour misspoke when reporting on the Deeโs, over a month ago now.
Her crime? Instead of saying the Deeโs were involved in a โshootingโ, she accidentally said โshootoutโ.
Considering this occurred over a month one, one might have presumed Rabbi Dee would think itโs โwater under the bridgeโ.
Not Dee.
Dee cried โdefamationโ and said: โCNNโs โdefamationโ of his family was worse than Foxโs defamation of Dominion!โ
Boteach was quick to jump in. Chipping in with:
โThe Jewish community must never again allow the defamation of its good name and characterโ.
Boteach added that he was authorized to say publicly by Benjamin Brafman, a renowned criminal defence attorney, that the lawyer would be prepared to serve as Deeโs co-counsel.
Brafman was one of the lawyers that defended Harvey Weinstein against rape, and sexual assault allegations.
He is known for his disarming sense of humour, quick wit and skillful cross-examinations.
His clients have included mobsters, drug dealers and celebrities like Jay-Z and Michael Jackson.
Amidst all this, Amanpour sent a personal apology to Rabbi Dee. But he refused to accept it and demanded a public apology!
She did so on Tuesday.
โAnd just a note,โ Christiane Amanpour, CNN chief international anchor, said 22 minutes and 50 seconds into her May 22 show โAmanpour.โ
โOn April 10th, I referred to the murders of a British-Israeli family, Lucy Dee and Maia and Rina Dee, the wife and daughters of Rabbi Leo Dee. During that live interview, I misspoke and said that they were killed in a โshootoutโ instead of a โshooting.โ I have written to Rabbi Dee to apologize and make sure that he knows that we apologize for any further pain that may have caused him,โ Amanpour said.
This might be the end of it youโre thinking? Ah, not quite.
This time Orthodox Rabbi Yaakov Menken retired in a tweet, โI accept that she “misspoke.” But it’s not exceptional, it’s par for the course, and her tone and body language are anything but apologetic. This speaks for itself. If CNN calls this acceptable, then CNN is not.โ
Boteach (the first Orthodox Rabbi we mentioned) is reported to have said that Amanpour was โforced to capitulate and retractโ her and CNNโs โnauseating lieโ less than 24 hours after Dee announced that he planned to sue CNN for $1.3 billion โfor defaming and desecrating the memory of his martyred wife and two daughtersโ.
(Martyred).
He concluded by saying, โthe lesson here is that the Jewish community must never again allow the defamation of its good name and character.
Let all our enemies (โenemiesโ? over a misspoken word, yap) know that this is just the first of many actions we will be taking to ensure that the Jewish people and the State of Israel will never again be defamed. Antisemites beware.โ Boteach said.
By now youโre probably thinking youโve been transported into the middle of a gangster movie. But no, itโs just the Dee circus, from the illegally occupied Palestine. Shalom.
